29 January 2014 DHA staff member awarded Australia Day honour

Defence Housing Australia (DHA) staff member Jon Barnes, has been recognised for his outstanding contribution and performance with an Australia Day Achievement Medallion.

Jon, who is a report writer in DHA’s Property Provisioning Group, was presented with his medallion by Warrant Officer of the Navy (WO-N) Martin Holzberger from the Department of Defence. In presenting the medallion WO-N Holzberger said that the medallion was awarded in appreciation of Jon’s outstanding dedication, commitment and teamwork in his role as the Assistant to the WO-N.

“Your exemplary efforts in providing effective and efficient service to the WO-N have always ensured that the ever changing demands of the role are being met,” WO-N Holzberger said.

“Your extensive knowledge, kind nature and professional demeanour have also been valued with the Office of the Chief of Navy when called upon. You have been able to assist in a number of duties that have supported the overall role of the office.”

Jon, who had been in the Navy for 12 years before joining DHA, worked as a writer in the administrative branch of the Navy during which time he had postings to sea and ashore. Most recently he has worked as both the executive assistant to the Chief of Navy and the assistant to the WO-N. In 2013, Jon began working in another writing role with the Property Provisioning Group at DHA.

“Australia Day Achievement Medallions are reserved for the highest level of recognition,” DHA’s acting Managing Director Jon Brocklehurst said.

“I am very proud to have Jon on our staff. I would like to congratulate him on this honour, he should be proud of his achievements.”

Australia Day Achievement Medallions are a way to acknowledge the outstanding contributions and performance of public sector staff, for outstanding performance of core duties or for work on special projects.
