Defence Housing Australia (DHA) lessors have gathered in Canberra and Sydney in October to get the Inside Word on their DHA property investment. Lessors from across the two states were invited to join DHA and its panel of industry experts, Craig Ashford from Propell National Valuers and Tony Papadakis from PTM Group, in a Q&A panel discussion.
‘The events have been really positive,’ DHA Lessor Relations Manager, Michael Griffiths said. ‘This is the fourth Inside Word series we have delivered and I’m pleased to see that it was well-received. We see this as a very important part of developing our relationships, and improving our services to lessors. To see so many of our lessors in attendance was a great outcome.
‘Each year we appoint an independent licensed valuer to review the property’s rent to market value, and it is this process that often raises questions. This particular series provided an opportunity to have all of these questions answered, and from one of the industry’s leading valuers and member of the DHA valuers panel.’
‘There are definitely some misconceptions in the market around property valuations and how we go about valuing DHA properties,’ Craig Ashford said. ‘These events are helping to bridge that information gap and empowering people to make confident decisions about their property’s value.’
With long-standing building partners, PTM Group, on the panel it was also a great way for lessors to get a first-hand look at some of the innovations in DHA housing.
‘It was a privilege to showcase our properties, and really beneficial for us too, to see the importance that the build and finishes has on the valuation process,’ Tony Papadakis said.
‘Many of our lessors have purchased their properties sight unseen and may have had their DHA property for some time,’ Michael said. ‘We want our lessors to see that we are a progressive organisation and that our innovations mean that the product they own maintains a high level of recognition and relevance in the market.’
