The Federal Government’s announcement to scrap the privatisation of DHA could not have come at a better time for those looking to invest in the property market in Australia. Our investment product has always been low-risk and Government-backed.
‘Today’s announcement has reaffirmed this position. It is a clear signal to current and potential investors that they can continue to look forward to a financially-secure future by investing with DHA,’ DHA Managing Director Peter Howman said.

Our property portfolio will continue to expand and diversify giving investors more options in the type of property they choose to buy, but still maintaining all the same features that the DHA investment offering is renowned for.’

Throughout the scoping study process DHA made a commitment to Defence members and their families that it would not compromise on the homes nor the services that it provides to them in order to meet the obligations of the study.
‘It is testament to the staff at DHA, many of them Defence spouses, who have worked tirelessly to ensure minimal disruption has occurred in the lives of our key customers,’ Mr Howman said.
‘Now is not a time to rest on our laurels, but to use this momentum to build on providing more efficient services and to rolling out more innovative housing options that offer a cost efficiencies to members.’
However, the Government has also said it would review DHA's accounting, information technology and business reporting systems to improve the transparency of the cost of providing services.
‘No further details about the process of the review have been released. Until we are told more about the process and the timeframe, we will continue business-as-usual and this includes offering a unique investment product to Australian investors and homes for our Defence families.’
