28 October 2013 Accolades for DHA’s Bayriver residential development

Defence Housing Australia’s (DHA’s) Bayriver residential development has received a commendation award at the 2013 Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) awards for excellence.

The Largs North residential development, which sits on 8.8 hectares of level land on the eastern side of the Lefevre Peninsula, will provide 127 lots including houses, apartments and townhouses.

“We are excited that our Bayriver residential development has been recognised in the Urban Renewal category at the UDIA Awards for Excellence,” DHA Managing Director Peter Howman said.

“Winning this commendation highlights the effort that we have put in to this project as a team.”

Announced at a black-tie gala event at the Adelaide Convention Centre in front of more than 300 guests, the annual awards acknowledged the state’s best development projects across 11 categories.

The Urban Renewal category recognises projects that demonstrate revitalization and appropriate use of land or buildings in established suburbs.

“At Bayriver we have transformed an old oval and enclosed industrial site of 8.8 hectares into a landscaped greenbelt for the enjoyment of future residents and the surrounding community,” Mr Howman said.

There are currently about 25 land lots left for sale at the popular development, and the first DHA houses are expected to be completed in time for Christmas. There are around 40 houses currently in construction.

“In the new year I expect that Bayriver will be not only be a highly commended residential development, but also a thriving community built on great foundations.”

DHA is an award-winning residential developer who is focused on providing high-quality housing appropriate for the local and surrounding environment. DHA has invested $250 million in several large developments across the country. It has a development pipeline of more than $1 billion.
