Defence Housing Australia (DHA) acknowledged the important role of women in the rugby league community recently during the National Rugby League (NRL) Women in League round. Through DHA’s marketing agreement with the Canberra Raiders, it sees firsthand and appreciates the contribution both women and men bring to the game.
DHA was proud to support the Canberra Raiders’ Women in League luncheon by organising media and communication expert, Rachel Friend, as the special guest for the function.
Rachel, who has worked with numerous NRL clubs regarding branding and media training, gave an inspiring speech on personal branding. Players’ partners, injured players, major partners, board members, and women of junior clubs in the ACT and surrounding region learnt how they can control their own brand, particularly in this digital age.
The NRL’s Women in League program was established in 2007 to recognise and reward the important role women play in the game. It aims to make women feel proud of their roles and contribution to the game.
Currently, more than 140,000 women and girls have a direct connection with Rugby League, whether they are an NRL club CEO, in management, administration, players, coaches, volunteers or club members.
