17 May 2018 First tenants enjoy some right royal comfort

When Air Force Squadron Leader Sarah Jackson says her new house is cool, she means it literally!

As Adelaide sweltered in summer temperatures over 42 degrees, Sarah and her pilot husband Glenn Salmon, were kicking back in a comfortable 25 degrees.

‘The house was so cool we rarely used our air conditioner,’ she said. ‘And we didn’t have those huge power bills either.’

The couple, in their 30s, are the first tenants to move into The Prince’s Terrace in Bowden.

‘We’ve shifted house at least seven times in the past 15 years and this is the best place yet. It sets the bar really high, but I’ve told Glenn not to get too used to it!’ Sarah laughed.

The couple met on military assignment in the Middle East and were married last September. They hope The Prince’s Terrace will be the place they welcome their first child, before the family is transferred to Canberra in about three years’ time.

‘I’m all for doing things the green way. It’s good for your hip pocket and for the environment. But it’s not just the insulation and power efficiency that’s great here—the overall design, functionality of the layout and lifestyle is brilliant.

‘We’re really enjoying the low maintenance garden and being able to walk down the street and have breakfast.

‘The combination of green and city suits young couples and matches our lifestyle so we’re singing the praises of living here. We just love it.’
