20 September 2018 DHA Liv Apartments awarded for excellence in high-density living

Defence Housing Australia’s contemporary Liv Apartments project in Fremantle, has won the Award for Excellence in High Density Development at the Urban Development Institute of Australia (WA) awards.

Held in Perth on Saturday 15 September, the UDIA WA Awards program is one of WA’s most prestigious and respected industry awards. The Awards for Excellence celebrate and promote best practice, innovation and high quality developments across a range of development types.

Accepting the award, DHA Managing Director, Jan Mason, said this recognition highlighted Liv’s role in setting new standards in modern, high-density living options for Defence members and the wider community.

‘As an award-winning developer, DHA is committed to building vibrant and exciting sustainable communities—and Liv Apartments certainly meets the brief,’ said Ms Mason.

‘DHA is proud to deliver this state-of-the-art urban residential development, which offers maximum lifestyle benefits, while providing cost-effective energy solutions for our investors, Defence members and all those who choose to call Liv home.’

Liv Fremantle is DHA’s first apartment project in WA and our second biggest in Australia. The complex offers one, two and three-bedroom apartment designs that optimise space and affordability, yet exude individuality, quality and an ambience associated with an up-market lifestyle.

Designed by the award winning international firm Hassell, the six-storey development features 166 apartments, 1,300sqm of ground floor retail and commercial space, in addition to an array of landscaped courtyards and public open spaces.

A highlight of the recent launch was the unveiling of acclaimed local artist Rick Vermey’s dynamic public art installation, which is set to become a local Freo icon. Commissioned as part of the ‘City of Fremantle Percent for Art’ scheme, the installation features a striking geometric design with a distinctly ‘Freo feel’.

Liv Apartments’ unique features have earned it the rare and coveted ‘One Planet Living community’ accreditation—joining the prestigious company of only 20 developments world-wide and seven within Australia recognised by Bioregional for national leadership in creating healthy, happy and affordable living within a supportive broader community.

Liv is a beacon for environmental excellence in high-density living in Fremantle’s East End. Its sustainable design principles have achieved a Four Star Green Star equivalent rating, along with an impressive 7.5 star NatHERS (Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme) average rating for the development and a minimum 6 star NatHERS for individual apartments.
