On 11 February 2024, Defence Housing Australia (DHA) Chair, the Hon Sandy Macdonald AM will step down, following over 15 years on DHA's board.
Appointed Chair in February 2015, Mr Macdonald has made a lasting and significant contribution to DHA.
A few of DHA’s achievements under Mr Macdonald’s Chairmanship include:
- Meeting the Department of Defence’s housing demand to support the Australian Defence Force’s capability.
- Delivering DHA’s Corporate Plan objectives.
- Strong engagement and relationships with DHA’s key stakeholders.
Throughout the years, Mr Macdonald has passionately supported DHA's vision to provide housing to the Australian Defence Force – never failing to recognise the nationwide team effort that drove DHA's success.
He went on to acknowledge, "It has been a pleasure to lead an organisation filled with dedicated staff and one that, as the Chief of the Defence Force has described, is the best housing model in the western world, and supports ADF members and their families who move according to the needs of the ADF."
DHA is thankful for Mr Macdonald's leadership and dedication throughout the years.
From 12 February, current board member Dr Rob Lang will assume the interim position of Chair.
