Defence Housing Australia (DHA) participated in the latest Australian Public Service (APS) employee census—an annual employee perception survey of the APS workforce. This was conducted from 8 May to 9 June 2023 with 83% of employees participating. The survey provides an opportunity for employees to give their views about the APS and DHA. Participation in the survey was voluntary but encouraged.
The opportunity to hear and reflect on employee perceptions and experiences is valuable. DHA’s employee engagement score for 2023 is 72% which is 1 percentage points higher than 2022.
Employee feedback continues to be an integral input to the actions we take to improve employee experience and engagement, and to drive an inclusive and high performing culture across DHA. We have taken steps to genuinely address key themes through a range of initiatives including:
- The launch of our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and inaugural Culture and Wellbeing Strategy to build a positive workplace culture focussing on high performance, inclusion and holistic wellbeing of DHA employees.
- Building our Employee Value Proposition (EVP) which is our commitment as an employer.
- Embedding the Enterprise Change Management Framework with a team of change professionals working across the business to support people transitioning through change.
Following our 2023 results, DHA has developed an action plan which outlines a list of actions that are aimed to effectively address focus areas identified from our census results.
