Established in 1913 as the Royal Australian Naval College
(RANC), HMAS Creswell, located in Jervis Bay, includes a
Heritage Housing Precinct which encompasses 12 Defence
Housing Australia (DHA) residences. It provides modern
housing while preserving naval history and the original
architectural designs.
Recent challenges with mould and dampness prompted a comprehensive 9.2-million-dollar renovation project. Over three years, upgrades included addressing 59.4 tonnes of asbestos removal, reconfiguring layouts, and revitalising roofs and stormwater systems. Funding approval from the Public Works Commitee underscores the project’s significance in preserving national heritage. With completion set for June, anticipation builds for a new chapter in HMAS Creswell’s storied history.
